Privacy Policy

This policy explains how The Jeweler handles information collected through this website. It covers the website only, not what happens in the shop.

The short version

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. There are no advertising trackers, analytics scripts, or social media pixels on this site. The only information we ask for is what you type into the contact form, and we use it to answer you.

What we collect

When you send the contact form we receive your name, your email address, your phone number (if you give one), the subject you chose, and your message. The message is saved in the website's database first, so it cannot get lost, and then emailed to the shop so we can reply.

To stop the form being flooded, the site counts how many messages arrive from each internet (IP) address over ten minutes. That count is kept in the server's memory only. It is not saved, and it is gone within minutes.

If anyone tries to sign in to the shop's private dashboard, the time, IP address, and browser of the attempt are recorded so the owner can spot a password being guessed. Only the 50 most recent attempts are kept. This does not apply to visitors who never use the sign-in page.

Our hosting provider keeps its own request logs, which include IP addresses and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting.

What we don't collect

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or social media pixels. The site's fonts are served from this website, not from Google or anyone else. We never ask for payment details here, and no purchases happen on this website.

Cookies and local storage

The public pages set no cookies of their own and store nothing in your browser. The only cookie this site sets is a sign-in cookie for the shop owner's private dashboard. It is set only after a correct password and it expires after 12 hours.

The one exception is the map on the Visit & Contact page, which comes from Google (see below).

How we use it

Contact form messages are used to reply to your question, give you a quote, or follow up about a repair, consignment, or custom piece. We do not add you to a marketing list.

Who handles it for us

We share your information only with the services that run this website for us. They handle it on our behalf, not for their own purposes.

Railway hosts the website and the database where contact messages are stored.

Resend delivers the email that tells the shop about your message. That email then sits in the shop's own email inbox.

The map on the Visit & Contact page is Google Maps. When that page loads, your browser fetches the map from Google, which receives your IP address and browser details and may set its own cookies, under Google's privacy policy. Every other page loads nothing from anyone but this website.

We will also disclose information if the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

Contact messages stay in the website's database until the shop deletes them from the dashboard. Nothing deletes them automatically. The notification email stays in the shop's inbox until it is deleted there. The sign-in record only ever holds the latest 50 attempts.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it or delete it. Contact us using the details at the bottom of this page. When you ask us to delete your messages, we delete them from the dashboard and from our inbox. There is no charge.

Children

This site is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us information, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
